The build sheet says I have the 19 Gallon Optional Tank on my TJ. I drive until the light is on and I can't get but 11 or 12 gallons in it. What gives? Is the guage jacked up or is the computer just being cautious by setting the gas light off when there is still like 6 gallons left in it?

Man, I have the exact same problem. I was talkign with Ron about this. I have rn that thing till the light is on and can only get about 11 or 12 gallons in it, although supposedly all TJ's after 98 came with a 19 gallon tank. I dunno the answer either.

Its a guage issue, google it. For whatever reason Jeep decided that between 12 and 14 gallons they want you light to come on. Mine comes on closer to 14 and I have driven it for 3 days with the light on before filling up with over 18 and a half gallons.
Carry a gas can with you and run it out someday...

I don't think we have ever gotten more then 15 1/2 in our 06. Would love to know for sure if I have four galons in standby...

You'd think they could come up with a gauge and sender that would tell you how many gallons are left not just how full you tank is.
my guage goes way past the e before its empty

read a post on wranglerforum.com a while back, it has something to do with the height the fuel sending unit is mounted in the tank

:) I was thinking about all manufactures... In this day and age of gadgets and green thinking you would thing that someone would have started making a fuel gauge system that told you just what you had used and what was left. Exactly.... But then we'd all be screaming at the gas station owners when there pumps didn't give us the same reading as our tank shows...:rolleyes:It doesnt even do that well...
