I have many solutions to fix it ranging in price from $12 to the money for a set of one piece shafts and bearings and such that i have here.

wait that is exactly what I did to mine, well not exactly but that was how my write up was over 3 years ago. I spent $12 up here on the stuff. Too many problems though. Usually the cables aren't stiff enough to push it. Also you need to shift to 4wd first then actuate the leaver or you wil tear up the collar. You can also space the shift fork over. But another issue is the weak cast shift fork. Do what I did and swap one piece shafts, bearings and brakes over to your axle or just swap axles. I have one.

I have a one piece XJ D30. You could either swap axles all together or just swap everything but the housing. Most would say swap the whole axle but remember the issues we had with those control arms.
