Glad to be here, find some people who's brains I can pick. Recently transfered up to Eielson out of AZ and then deployed a month later, was getting into wheeling down south and purchased my 74 Cherokee Chief. After mods and orders could not find a transporter that would move her up here so I am down one jeep. Well soon to be she is up for sale. Still have the bug though and with a daughter on the way I opted for another full size when I found a 66 Wagoneer on craigslist. She need some work but I'm looking forward to wrenching when I get home. The 74 had 10 inches of lift 35" tired on 44s, running a 360 with quadr-trac, she was sweet. Not looking to go as extreme with my 44 year old sweet heart just yet. Cannot post pics, will do later.

So first question, any one found a cheaper solution to shipping from the lower 48? Lift kit I am looking at will cost me $470 in shipping.

you just have to shop around, call the place you plan on ordering from and see if there is anything they can do

man, with full leaf packs as a lift, that is probabl going to need to come on a pallet. I would check Span Alaska or PM the Ronster on here as he used to know a few ways to get things up here.

Yep, call Span Alaska and set up an account with them, ship it to the Span Alaska dock in Washington and let them barge it up to you. It should cut your shipping cost in half but it will take a few weeks to get up here.

Thanks for the info Ronster, gonna take a look when I get home. Need to do the other fun stuff you have to do to an old rig before I start tearing her up.

Thinking I'm going to do a rancho fronth leaf pack replacement. It'll give me a 3-4 inch lift up front. Throw some add a leafs and a block in the rear to even it out. What do you guys think?
The wife sent me some picks of it, as soon as I am able I'll get em posted

I would stay away from blocks, I am running 4", it works but too much axle wrap unless you put in a 2 link bar setup.

Might wanna get it running good and see how it handles before you start spending money on stuff you might not need/want more than something else and end up with no money to do anything
