I was looking around at PSC to drive hydraulic assist, but they said in AK the pump might be noisy at start up in the cold.
Anyone running hydraulic assist on anything up here?

I wonder what they use in snow plow hydrolics up here and if it would work in your application?

For steering you need smooth and fast hydraulics. Farm and industrial stuff usually results in disaster.
PSC make the pump, gear box and hydraulic assist cylinder to replace the TJ box.

I have the AGR super pump and rock ram box on my jeep and it's fine. I have not added the ram on yet but I don't see any reason that it would make any more noise than normal. I'm running royal purple power steering fluid in the system and it seems to be working ok. The only problem I have had in Alaska was at extreme cold temp's the cooler I added froze causing me to blow a line. Now in the winter I unhook the power steering/trans cooler and then hook it back up in the summer.

were you in Fairbanks or Anchorage with the AGR box? And how was your jeep setup tire-wise?

I am/was in Fairbanks and have had it for two winters now. My tire size is only 33's.
