With being sick enough to not be at work for the last 1.5 days, I've been making some potential plans.

Today I drew a sketch (initially with oval shaped tires, I cannot draw to save me life) of a Blazer frame, with a crewcab cab, and a toolbox on the rear. Cool idea, but after some research, gonna require a bit of trimming to the back of the cab to make it work. Even if I push the rear axle back a bit.

So......I ran across something else. I had dreamed of something like this before and had considered it recently, but when I saw the picture, I knew this is what I wanted to build.

Working on a deal for the Burb I'm going to use as a donor, and we'll go from there.

Also let it be said that I don't want to make mine identical to this. I have a few variations I'm hoping will work out.

interested to see the makeover happen with the body. Also curious to see what drivetrain and running gear you plan.

I like it... Thats a hell of a departure angle on that thing too... I've thought about something similar with my Jcrew build. Seen a few with a shortend M715 bed grafted onto the back of a Waggy.

Drivetrain will depend on what deals I make in the next few weeks.

Will probably stick to 36 or 37's for awhile with a locked/welded rear. But we shall see...........

Initially the motor will have injection, but I have eyes on something that will probably end up with a truck avenger down the road, if I can convince someone to give me a steal on it. (No it's not Kevin)

I have a sawzall that needs it's exercise. As soon as Kelly's Army Green build is done and I make a couple of hours progress on Lil Chief, I can wrench a bit on Revenge.

Wouldnt it be easier to buy your ZJ back and put a 44 under it? :deadhorse:

No.......Especially not with what it's been through since I got rid of it.

So it began......

One friend dropped me off so I could bring it home, another stopped by to assist in the starting and eventual trimming, and a third gave a hand removing parts and having some fun.

Here's how it arrived today, after a stuck throttle nearly killed it from NP to Kev's place.

The running boards were pretty stout, but they had to go.

Although the rear fits great, the front needed trimmed, if I was going to turn that is.

Yes, they are not cut at the same level on both sides, yet.

All done

Don't try to ramp on ice, or with your front hubs unlocked.

Yeah that was pathetic, I admit it.

Took it out through a snowbank tonight. Got stuck, a couple of times, but had fun. Trimmed more off the front, but it's too dark for a good picture of what I did now.

Will post that up tomorrow.

Hmm, well I drove the SAV to work again (try to do it once a week) and noticed something by the passenger front tire. Noticed a 8" branch wedged between the rim and brake rotor. Must've happened at FBNX creek on Friday. Oops as I've driven it 200 miles since. So I pulled it out, went to drive home and noticed it feels like I have a loose tire. Well, the tire wasn't loose but the bearing sure was shot.

So AXLE SWAP TIME!!! I'm pulling both axles and swapping in a FF welded rear, and probably a 44, although I may have found a 60 I can get.

If anyone is bored tonight I'm heading out around 8 to pick out the axles and weld the rear and start pulling the current ones out of the SAV.

I'm going till it's dark then continuing tomorrow night, same start and end time. Hopefully I'll finish tomorrow, if not, it continues Friday.

I was hoping so. Trying to get it ready as the axles underneath it at the moment are not going to cut it.

I am very interested to see what progress you are making on this rig. Is there a potential to do a spring-over to get the lift you will need without having to buy the springpacks? Bumper time?
When are you cutting off the top?
Lockers/Lincoln's?

AKMark

Springs on a Chevy are already over.

At the moment this is an axle swap only.

I will probably end up lincoln locked in the rear when it's over.

I will be saving and seeking a D60 for the front down the road.

The springs that will go on the front are coming from my old K-5 that's getting a new lift this fall, the rear will get a shackle flip to compensate.

The body chop is on hold, gotta get it fixed up to drive, and see if I end up keeping the Avy or not for now.

Bumpers, I'd love to make a front one, but have two Church buildings that need more speaker wires/microphone wires/updating wires plus searching for a place for the family to crash and move them up, it's not gonna happen for now, me thinks.

The axle swap should happen this upcoming week and keep me going for awhile.

Right now it's sitting in the back of the yard with the rear on jackstands.

Anybody got a couple hours they could spare Monday (tomorrow) night to help me finish a rear axle swap on the Burb so I can try to make Tuesday's ride?

Not a problem. It's been a busy as all get out week anyway.

Figuring on another attempt at putting it back together Thursday, say around 7pm. We have another 3/4 ton Burb with a 14FF that we're going to pull the FF out of, put me SF in, and make sure the carrier is welded prior to stuffing the FF in mine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, after many night of not getting to work on the SAV, hopefully tomorrow will start the rebuilding process.

Should be back on the road Saturday, if all goes well.

If anybody is bored during the day Thursday, we're having a build/fix day at my shop.

The SAV is getting a D60 and a 4" lift,
A 3+3 is getting a D44 with 4.10 gears, utilizing the knuckles from my old 10 bolt.
A Dodge is getting new ball joints.

We are starting around 10am, we have lots of tools available at the shop, so if you want to stop by later, that's fine. There is a forklift with editediteditedit for brakes, but it's there if needed.
