Any XJ linkage experts here? My daughters 90 XJ with auto and full time case is getting stuck in park and reverse on her. It's allways been hard going into park. How are these controled? A cable or direct linkage? I'm up north but will be home lat tonight and need to get under it and see whats up. Just wondering if there is a common problem to look for first...

I can't remember but I thought it was a cable. If so, lubricate with graphite and see if that solves the problem.

Thats what I was hopping for. I'll know tonight. Hopping it just needs a bit of cable adjustment.

Yep, it has 2 cables under the carpet. One to the tranny & one to the ignition switch.
If it was just a pain in Park, i'd say the one to the switch, but i don't know for sure....

You can always disconnect the one to the ignition and wire it to the position that allows the ignition switch to work.
That's what I did to the ZJ before I switched it to an auto, only buggar was that there was a shifter linkage recall and another one for the intake that I had taken it in for, and go figure they reconnected it and couldn't figure out why it was binding. They fixed it then tried to get me to pay for it. I told them no way, and threatened the black list if they didn't give my Jeep back pronto. They gave the Jeep back and I left it (since it was now fixed) until I swapped the AX-15 in eight months later.
