I have a sweet deal on a full Detroit locker and a trac lock for D44 axles that are for high gears. I plan to use them with the Rubicon 4:11 gears I have in the D44 waggy axles. WHat do you folks think about a front trac lock? I get the package for 600 to my door and there new never used. Will I be going through u-joints with Waynes 35's and my heavy Waggy??? :(
Then again... As much as I wheel they should be fine for a mall crawler right! Had to say it before someone else did!:p

Craig, I don't know a great deal about the trac loc but a full detroit plus shipping usually runs in the 600 range so I would snag the deal up. The problem then is getting them installed, unless you know how to do gears. I know a guy who does gears...
As for breaking shat, maybe. The 35's are a larger tires but have enough give(i.e. not Boggers) to give you some slip with your grip which will help the service life of those 44 shafts.
I'd buy it and run it and be happy. life's good!

I ran an aussie up front on the 44 in my dodge with 35's and didn't break a shaft. I did however spit out caps off of the napa u-joints  But I found this company down here brute force you can get there u-joints for the same price as napa's good ones and I always had good luck with them.

I'm on the fence about haveing teh trac lock in the front. It's a pretty heavy rig though but winter ice has me wondering. I guess I'm being a tight wad for now and might up grade to a selctable of some type after I blow out a few corners...

I have the Trac-loc in the front of my CUCV. I never had any problems running it with my 33" tires and I wheeled pretty hard. I haven't had it too long with my 38.5" tires, but it did good in the deep snow and on-road winter driving. For that price I don't think you can go wrong.
