So, those of you at the Frozen Lunches today, saw the HUGE eyesore that is my hood on my TJ. Apparently, the previous owner wanted to be a rolling billboard for Rubicon Express and put a ginormous sticker on the hood. What is the best way to get that off? I've heard a heat gun, but I'm skeptical about putting a heat gun on the ole paint. Thoughts?

if it's on the hood, it should be warm enough for removal after a drive? if not just peel and get some goo gone it'll take the adhesive off, i just wouldn't leave it on the paint wash it off with some water or wash it afterwards

I have a heat gun. Put a thin kitchen towel over it so it doesnt get too hot. Warm up the sticker and peel back.

What Nathan said, then use Goo Gone like Matt said and get the icky stuff off. I just like to repeat what other people say to sound relevant and increase my post count.

Peel the sticker off once its warm like the others said then all you need is a can of WD-40. Sprayin on the sticky stuff and let it sit for about 10 minutes or so then it will wipe off with a towel.

Both goo gone and WD-40 works, Use heat gun on low and pull slow. Use your Thumb nail to lift the edge and pull at a right angle to the edge of the decal, Some times you will have to use the high setting. The trick is to get the glue soft but keep the decal firm.

Any chance you could bring that by the office sometime this week? I'd like to get that stupid thing off, if you'd be willing to let me borrow your heat gun.

Damn the guy that put that thing on. Its been on for long that the metallic portions of the sticker just flake. I worked on it a little last night and got about 1/4 of the way done. Sheesh.

Two ideas: send it off and repaint the hood, or get a new hood!
