So, my Tabor 12k winch came without a winch control box mount inside the package. I researched it on jf.com and apparently Warn cheaps out on the mount and you have to buy an extra mounting set besides the winch. So, I am looking to make a mount myself.
Anyone with a Warm winch care to elaborate on (or post pictures of) the kind of mount that these boxes use? I am looking to fabricate one here and get this big boy installed. Help please!

Well, Nate and Ron have their solenoid mounted to their grill. Eventually I'll do the same. I have it mounted on Warn's $12 bracket that they sell.

two more holes in the jeep, mounted to the grill, kinda cheap.

I made a mount that bolts to 2 of the winch mounting bolts and allows the solenoid to sit over the winch motor. I too was unimpressed with the loose solenoid box. If I get another Warn, it will have the solenoids mounted under the hood, with (slightly) longer cables.
I'll post up a picture when I get home.

I'm not very keen on drilling extra holes on the Jeep unless I absolutely have to. Tomorrow I'll be taking a good look at how to mount this onto the Jeep. I might fabricate a bracket with some spare aluminum rods and rubber I have here. Why does Warn skimp on a $12 mounting bracket? I doubt anyone carries that here in town.

Its not in town. I had to order it off Q-tec. It took a week to get here. It was almost not even worth it. If want, I'll swing by post tomorrow and let you have a look. Gimme a call.

By the looks of the solenoid there's two circular indentations on the rear that look like can be mounted to the winch motor. With two circular clamps I think I can mount this easily. I'm giving it a try tomorrow.

you could def make something like mine with some spare sheet metal, i can take pics of it but you might have to look at how it's actually mounted to get the whole pic

You can see my bracket is mounted to the bottom plate of the winch. It also serves to protect the terminals on the winch motor. It would look better but MIKEY drove it into the hillside! :)

^ Nice fab there, I could get something like that made.
To make things worse, I got Ron's winch plate and his was made for a 8k Warn. Mine is a 12k, and it is considerably bigger. The winch fits on the plate but it is a tight fit, and I had to drill the mounting holes for the winch and the fairlead, as the 12k hardware is bigger. I also cut 1" off the back of the plate off with a plasma cutter so that I can use my sway bar, Ron was driving his without it. I have had to drive to Sentry hardware twice already today getting hardware, etc. Hopefully I'll have the winch mounted today, and wired in tomorrow.
