In the quick look I couldnt tell if it was lifted or the fenders cut and bushwackers installed. I am willing to bet on option 1 with stock size tires.

Only problem with those is the only way to take the top off is with a sawsall:D

Hi guys thanks for the great pic of my girl. She does have a 3 inch rear and 2.5 inch front lift with spacers and Bilstein 5100 rear. The tires are after market but the stock size and while they do ok on the light trails, on snow and ice they have a slipping problem. Im in the process of getting 33x12.50x17 BF A/T. The bushwacker fender flairs are the bolt on type, no cutting. The fender flairs on the FJs are pretty large. I have a set of Bilstein 5100 for the front struts and Icon rear springs on the way. Also installed an ECU from Unichip and dynamax exhaust with Airaid throttle body spacer. 2 inch wheel spacers for a better stance.
I belonged to a great club in Alabama when I had an 05 Willys edition Wrangler. Looking forward to getting to know some Artic wheelers and get to know some good trails.
Thanks for the input.

Thanks I def like the site. I have a question? Ive been in Alaska for 3 winters now but only drove one. What tires do you all recommend for the roads here as well as a good off road tread?

Cooper STTs. I run them on my heep and my truck.

Ive had a few people tell me they are good tires and a great tread I know TDS carries them pretty cheap. Thanks for the info.

Just bought a set of 5 35x12.50s for $1280 from American Tire & Auto.

TDS has been cheaper lately on cooper tires. I don't know first hand aboutthem but it seems alot of folks like them. I can't speak for a good combo tire as I hav eonly ran MT's on the XJ and run Revo AT's on my diesel. The Revo's are great for street and ice and snow but that thing never goes wheeling.

So you've been up here for a few years? Have you had the FJ the whole time? It looks familiar for some reason.

Sweet will go by and try them too My FJ cant go 35s without a 6 inch lift and cutting the front body mounts. I like the ride of the 3 inch lift and no cutting

Hillbillie,
Yep brought her up from Alabama in June 07. I hauled 5000 across the Canadian Rockies with no problem. Her gas mileage sucked but no break downs or problems. I only had the PJ Dirt Grip tires on her at the time and have done the rest in AK.
I fly Kiowas for 6/17th Cav if you are military.

Welcome to the site Arctic Cruiser. Great looking cruiser. WOuld like to see it out on the trails going through the motions. Feel free to check out the site and swing by a meeting or better yet a trail ride.

BTW, I would say 60 to 80% of us on this site are military. Those who aren't tolerate the acronyms and redundancy from us who are.

Like the rest before me have said, welcome to the site! Glad to see someone else with a FJ here. I put a 2 inch OME lift on my wifes along with a set of 33's. Its nowhere built to your level but its a really nice capable vehicle.

The cooper STTs are a great tire, I have ran them for 3 seasons now without a hitch. I am sure there is a better tire out there but this one does really well.

Hi guys and thanks for the warm welcome.
Ive been here for 2 1/5 years now but you the Army, deployed for a while.
The STT sound like the way to go. I will def check them out at TDS and American Tire. Is there any names I should mention who directed me to them ( for possible discounts for you guys)?
Got another question? How do I find out about meetings and trail runs? I def wanna see how deep I can sink her in the snow. Also, how family friendly are the rides as my wife likes to 4 wheel as much as I do and she lets me spend the money on my rig, so I cant complain.
Good to know that there are other FJs out there. I do miss my Willys sometimes but I love my Cruiser.
Sorry about the acronyms and all but I am an old soldier.

Good to meet a bunch of guys like myself and cant wait to hit the trails with ya all. If ya see me out give me a holler.
