Patient: 2006 GMC Sierra SLE 5.3L 41,000 miles
Trouble: intermittent illumination of Check Engine Light(CEL). Frequency is every drive session at one point or another. the CEL eventually goes out, only to re-ignite later.
Scan: a pull of the trouble codes revealed the bank 2 O2 sensor was not heating properly and was not reading the proper amount of oxygen in the exhaust gasses.
Diagnosis: need to replace Bank #2 O2 sensor.
The footwork: Direct replacement Bosch P/N 15151. Unavailable at Napa. Schucks on College said 20 days backorder, cost $183. Aurora Motors said the 100K warranty on this 2006 truck did not cover O2 sensors. They had a replacement sensor for $123. Found the best deal at www.rockauto.com (http://www.rockauto.com) for $100 shipped. Sensor shoudl arrive in 5 to 7 days shipped priority mail.
